The International Union, United Automobile, Aerospace and Agricultural Implement Workers of America (UAW) is the union representing employees of Fiat Chrysler. According to Fiat Chrysler, the two parties have come to an agreement. According to the auto manufacturer, an agreement has been made, which, according to the car company, "...the Company cannot discuss the specifics of the agreement pending a ratification vote - an internal UAW process."
The Detroit Free Press has given specifics on the negotiations:
- 40,000 Fiat Chrysler workers are involved in the voting
- It is a four-year agreement
- The Detroit Free Press has reported that the workers and Fiat Chrysler have reached an agreement to move some jobs to Mexico while keeping some jobs here. (Fiat Chrysler has neither confirmed nor denied this, as of September 20, their website states that the agreement is pending member ratification.)
- According to the Detroit Free Press, "Upon ratification, every UAW worker receives a $3,000 signing bonus". UAW workers will also receive raises and contributions to 401(k) accounts. Starting wages for US workers will also increase.
